Sign the Petition for DC Moped Safety
Our Petition
Mayor Bowser and Members of the DC Council:
In June, two DC children were injured by mopeds in hit-and-run accidents that put one child in the hospital and left another with a concussion. This is not acceptable.
The growing number of mopeds operating recklessly in DC neighborhoods poses a public safety risk. Mopeds operate at high speed and often disobey traffic laws including blowing through intersections without stopping and operating on sidewalks and in protected bike lanes meant for pedestrians and non-motorized traffic.
Last summer, DC Metropolitan Police launched Operation Ride Right to enforce traffic laws and impound illegally-operating mopeds. DC must step up enforcement before another child or pedestrian is injured.
We the undersigned residents of DC request assistance with greater policing of the mopeds that operate in our city.

Where do DC Officials Stand on Traffic Safety?
Reckless moped drivers are out of control and our leaders are not prioritizing keeping us safe.
Where do our leaders stand on enforcing existing traffic safety laws that protect pedestrians, children and bikers from injury? We're waiting for answers.
